Everything under our care
01
01Landscape redesign
A full garden design and build for yards that need to be rethought from the soil up, not just replanted at the edges.
We start by walking the property and talking through what the yard needs to do — shade, privacy, a place to sit, less water. From there we design the beds and hardscape together, since a path and a planting plan have to agree with each other, then build it in stages so the yard isn't torn up all at once.

02Drought-tolerant planting
California natives and Mediterranean plants chosen for this exact microclimate, not a catalog photo from somewhere wetter.
San Diego's coastal and canyon microclimates each favor different plants, and we plant to the spot, not the trend. Sages, manzanita, ceanothus, and other low-water species go in where they'll actually thrive, grouped by water need so nothing gets over- or under-watered by accident.
03
03Irrigation & drip conversion
Converting spray heads to drip lines so water goes to roots instead of the sidewalk, and the bill reflects it.
Old spray systems throw a lot of water at air and pavement. We convert beds to drip line, zone by plant type, and set controllers to actual seasonal need instead of a fixed schedule, so the system waters less in winter without anyone having to remember to adjust it.
04
04Hardscape & pathways
Gravel, decomposed granite, and paver paths that hold up to foot traffic and frame the planting beds around them.
A path does two jobs: it gets people where they're going, and it keeps them off the beds. We set decomposed granite, gravel, and pavers with proper base and drainage so they don't shift or pool water, and we plan the planting beds around the hardscape rather than the other way around.
05
05Tree & shrub care
Pruning and shaping for established trees and shrubs, done for the plant's health first and its looks second.
Overgrown or stressed shrubs and trees usually need selective pruning, not a hard shear. We cut for airflow and structure, remove dead wood, and shape with the plant's natural form in mind, which keeps mature plantings healthy instead of just smaller for a season.
06
06Clean-ups & hauling
Clearing overgrowth, dead plants, and yard debris, and hauling it off so the space is ready for what's next.
Before any redesign or replanting, the yard usually needs clearing first — dead shrubs, invasive growth, old mulch, whatever's built up. We clear it, cut it down to size, and haul it off site, so what you're left with is a clean bed ready to work with.

A garden shop that also builds the garden
Coastal Sage Gardening works out of San Diego under contractor license #920677, and the shop looks the part — glass storefront, terra cotta pots stacked by the door, wire shelving full of soil bags and things still rooting. That same eye carries into the yards we build: plants chosen for what actually survives here, drip lines run where hoses used to waste water, and beds that still look good in August. One Google reviewer called it their go-to for garden supplies, right down to the fertilizer brands on the shelf. We'd rather show you the yard than describe it.

How a job runs, start to finish
01
Walk the yard together
Point at what you want changed. Ten minutes outside beats an hour of description.
02
Agree the scope and the price
What's included, what gets hauled away, what it costs — settled before tools come off the truck.
03
The work gets done
On the day you set, the way you agreed. Weather can move a date; it shouldn't move the price.
04
Walk it again before they leave
The cleanup is part of the job. Say so while the crew is still there.
Before you hire anyone
Four flags worth knowing — whoever you call
Ask these of anyone bidding your job — us included. A good answer costs nothing; a bad one saves you the whole mistake.
01
A price before anyone's seen the job
Real quotes come after eyes on the work. A number over the phone is a number that changes.
02
Nothing in writing
Scope, price, and who buys materials — settled before work starts, on paper or in a text thread.
03
Pressure to start today
Good operators are booked. Same-hour availability with a discount attached is its own answer.
04
No paper trail on payment
However you pay, there should be a record of what was agreed and what was done.
01
Plant to the microclimate
We choose species for the specific yard's sun, wind, and soil, not a single citywide plant list.
02
Water gets zoned
Irrigation is set by plant water need, in separate zones, instead of one schedule for the whole yard.
03
Walk it before we quote it
We look at the property in person before pricing any design or install work.
01Will drought-tolerant plants actually look good, or just survive?
Well-chosen natives and Mediterranean species flower, hold color, and fill in — sages and ceanothus bloom hard in spring, for instance. Looking good and using less water aren't opposites here; it's mostly about picking the right plant for the spot.
02Do you work with an existing irrigation system, or does it all get replaced?
It depends on what's there. Often we can convert existing spray zones to drip line rather than tearing out the whole system, which keeps cost and disruption down while still cutting water use.
03How does scheduling work for a quote?
Call and we'll set up a walk-through of the property so we can see the soil, sun, and existing plantings before pricing anything. That visit is also when we talk through what you actually want the yard to do.

Before you decide
Do I actually own the site?+
Yes. You own your site and your domain. Cancel anytime, keep everything. If you ever leave, we hand it all over, free. That's the deal in one sentence, and it's printed at checkout too.
Can I get my money back?+
Yes. The $299 launch fee is refundable for 30 days, no questions asked, and the $49 a month can be cancelled at any time.
What's the $49 a month for?+
Hosting, security, and unlimited edits to the pages you have: a new phone number, new prices, new photos, new wording. Email us and we make the change, with no hourly billing. New pages, like a page for another town you serve, are optional add-ons, and you see the price before you buy.
How did you get my information?+
From public records and your public Google listing. The records are your state contractor license (the CSLB publishes it), your city or county business registry, and Overture Maps, an openly licensed map dataset. Your Google listing gives us things like your hours, photos, rating and reviews; ratings and reviews appear as they do on Google, with attribution, never edited or invented. The words on the site are ours, written from those facts, so tell us anything we got wrong and we fix it. Your email came from a business-data company we pay; we don't run software that scrapes websites for addresses. We've never sold or shared the list, and we're not going to.
