What we work on
- 01
Diagnostics
A proper check-engine or drivability diagnosis that traces the code back to the actual part, not just the sensor that tripped it.
- 02
Brakes
Pads, rotors, and calipers inspected and replaced, with the worn parts set aside so you can see the wear yourself.
- 03
Oil & fluids
Oil, coolant, brake fluid, and transmission fluid checked and changed on the schedule your car actually needs, not a flat mileage number.
- 04
Engine repair
From a rough idle to a real internal failure, diagnosed first so the repair matches what's actually wrong.
- 05
AC service
Warm air, weak airflow, or a system that's just gone quiet — checked for leaks, charge, and compressor function.
- 06
Smog & inspection
Smog checks and pre-purchase inspections, with results explained in terms you can act on either way.

- 04Straight talk on urgent versus optional
Show, don't just tell
You see the worn or failed part before we replace it, whenever the job allows it.
Diagnose first, quote second
We identify the actual cause before pricing the repair, not after.
Urgent versus optional, named
We tell you plainly what needs attention now and what can wait.
We show you the worn part before we replace it
Next Level Styling works on the cars people actually drive every day around San Diego — the ones with a check-engine light that's been on for a week, or brakes that squeal on the way to work. Before anything gets repaired, we walk you through what the diagnostic found, point at the part in question, and explain what happens if you fix it now versus later. Some jobs are urgent. Some can wait a paycheck or two. We tell you which is which, and let you decide from there.

Say what the car's doing
A call or a text. The sound, the light, when it happens — plain words are enough.
Get eyes on it before a number
A real estimate comes after the car's been looked at. You approve it before any wrench moves.
The work gets done
What was agreed, at the price that was agreed. Anything new that turns up mid-job gets approved the same way first.
Pick it up and look it over
Ask what was replaced, and ask for the old parts back — that's a normal thing to ask.
Before any shop touches your car
Four flags worth knowing — whatever shop you choose
Ask these of anyone quoting your car — us included. A good answer costs nothing; a bad one saves you the whole repair.
A diagnosis over the phone
Nobody can hear a wheel bearing through a phone. A real answer starts with the car in the shop.
An estimate that can't be itemized
Parts, labor, and what each one fixes. A single lump number hides what you're paying for.
Work started without a yes
Nothing gets replaced before you approve it. “We went ahead and…” is the sentence to walk away from.
Hesitation about the old parts
Asking to see what came off your car is normal. The reaction to that question tells you plenty.
We stay close, from Point Loma to Bay Park

Questions
How do I know if a repair is urgent?
We tell you directly, based on what the diagnostic shows — worn brakes near the metal, a leak that's getting worse, a code tied to a part that's about to fail. If it can reasonably wait, we say that too, instead of pushing every job as urgent.
Will you explain what's actually wrong before charging me?
Yes. We diagnose first, show you what we found, and explain it in plain terms before any repair is quoted. You're deciding on a specific problem you understand, not a mystery line item.
How do I get my car in?
Call or book online and we'll get you on the schedule. If it's something you're not sure is urgent, describe the symptom when you book — that helps us plan the right amount of time for the diagnostic.
