Design, drainage, hardscape and planting for San Diego yards — drip lines instead of sprinklers, stone instead of thirsty lawn, and a crew that shows up to finish what it started.

01Landscape renovation
Design and construction from bare dirt to finished yard — grading, drainage, walls, hardscape, and planting handled as one project.
This is the project where a slope, a drainage problem, and a tired lawn all get solved together instead of patched separately. We grade and drain first, build any retaining walls the site calls for — we've set them in Ridgestone Legacy stack block before — then bring in stone, gravel, and planting so the finished yard reads as one design, not a series of add-ons.
02
02Drought-tolerant planting
Plant palettes built for San Diego's dry season, so the yard still has color and shape without a lawn behind it.
We plant for the water this region actually gets. That means grouping plants by thirst, choosing natives and Mediterranean varieties that hold their shape through the dry months, and using mulch and gravel to keep roots cool without a sprinkler running daily. The result is a yard that still looks intentional in August.
03
03Irrigation & drip conversion
Converting spray heads to drip lines so water goes to the root zone instead of the sidewalk.
Old spray systems waste water on hardscape and lose pressure at the far end of the yard. We convert beds and borders to drip line, zone plants by water need, and set valves so the system matches the planting plan instead of fighting it. It's less water on the same yard, aimed at the right spot.
04
04Hardscape & pathways
Cut stone pavers, poured concrete, and gravel paths that hold up to San Diego's dry heat and shift-free ground.
Hardscape is the bones of the yard — the path you actually walk, the patio you actually sit on. We set pavers and pour concrete on properly graded, compacted base so it doesn't heave, and use river rock or gravel where drainage matters more than a hard surface. Materials are chosen for the site, not just the mood board.
05
05Retaining walls & drainage
Stack-block retaining walls and drainage work for sloped San Diego lots, built to hold the hillside and move the water.
A lot of San Diego backyards have a slope nobody planted because nobody solved the drainage first. We grade the site, install drainage, and build retaining walls — including stack block systems like Ridgestone Legacy — with stairs where the grade needs them, so the usable yard actually gets bigger.
06
06Clean-ups & hauling
Overgrowth, dead planting, and construction debris cleared out so the new design has a blank site to start from.
Before any design goes in, the yard usually needs clearing — dead shrubs, old turf, leftover material from a previous project. We haul it out and leave a clean, graded site, which is also the right move on its own if the yard just needs a reset without a full rebuild.

We design for the dirt you actually have
Tommy and the crew at Sun Diego Landscape and Design (license #985581) start most projects the same way: standing in the yard, looking at where the water goes and where the sun sits longest. That's where the retaining walls go, where the drip line runs, where turf gives way to gravel and stone. We build the slopes, drainage, and stack-block walls a hillside lot actually needs, then plant and light around them. Customers have told us we're fair about pricing and straight about design tradeoffs — that's the part we're most careful to keep true.

01
Water goes first
We look at drainage and grading before any planting or hardscape decision is made.
02
Design before demo
We walk the site and settle the design with you before crews start moving dirt.
03
One crew, start to finish
The team that designs the yard is the team that builds it, so nothing gets lost in handoff.
01Can you fix a yard that floods or won't drain?
Yes — drainage is usually the first thing we assess on a sloped or low-lying lot, often alongside retaining wall work. We grade and route water before any planting or hardscape goes in, so the fix is structural, not cosmetic.
02Do you convert existing sprinklers to drip?
Yes. We assess the current system, zone plants by water need, and swap spray heads for drip line at the root zone. It's usually done alongside a planting change so the irrigation matches what's actually going in the ground.
03How does the process start?
We walk the yard with you, talk through what's not working — water, dead lawn, an awkward slope — and design around it before any construction begins. You see the plan before crews arrive.

Before you decide
Do I actually own the site?+
Yes. You own your site and your domain. Cancel anytime, keep everything. If you ever leave, we hand it all over, free. That's the deal in one sentence, and it's printed at checkout too.
Can I get my money back?+
On the $0-today plan there's nothing to get back at first: nothing is charged for 30 days, so cancel before then and you pay nothing. After that you can cancel anytime; a month already billed isn't refunded. If you paid $299 to launch instead, that $299 is refundable for 30 days, no questions asked.
What's the monthly fee for?+
It's $59 a month (or $49 if you paid $299 to launch), and it covers hosting, security, and unlimited edits to the pages you have: a new phone number, new prices, new photos, new wording. Email us and we make the change, with no hourly billing. New pages, like a page for another town you serve, are optional add-ons, and you see the price before you buy.
How did you get my information?+
From public records and your public Google listing. The records are your state contractor license (the CSLB publishes it), your city or county business registry, and Overture Maps, an openly licensed map dataset. Your Google listing gives us things like your hours, photos, rating and reviews; ratings and reviews appear as they do on Google, with attribution, never edited or invented. The words on the site are ours, written from those facts, so tell us anything we got wrong and we fix it. Your email came from a business-data company we pay; we don't run software that scrapes websites for addresses. We've never sold or shared the list, and we're not going to.
