Services
What we work on
- 01
Transmission rebuilds
Full diagnosis and rebuild for transmissions that slip, grind, or won't shift — pulled, inspected, and explained part by part.
- 02
Diagnostics
Check-engine light, rough shifting, or a noise you can't place — we run it down to the actual part, not a guess.
- 03
Brakes
Pads, rotors, and lines inspected and replaced, with the worn parts set aside so you can see what came off.
- 04
Engine repair
From timing issues to leaks and rough running, diagnosed and repaired with the same part-by-part approach as a transmission.
- 05
Batteries & electrical
Won't start, dies overnight, or dash lights acting up — tested at the battery, alternator, and wiring before parts get swapped.
- 06
Suspension & alignment
Pulling to one side, uneven tire wear, or a rough ride — checked at the components and set right, not just adjusted at the wheel.

A shop that explains the transmission before it opens it
Transmission Experts sits in a working strip-mall shop in El Cajon, the kind with roll-up metal doors and tools that see daily use. The work here centers on transmissions and the engine systems around them, but the shop handles the everyday repairs too — brakes, fluids, batteries, the stuff that keeps a car running between the bigger jobs. Maria and Reuben answer the questions before the estimate lands, and walk you through what's actually failing instead of guessing at a price over the phone. If something else turns up mid-job, you hear about it before it's done, not after.

Questions
How do I know if it's the transmission or something else?
Slipping, grinding, delayed shifts, and fluid leaks usually point to the transmission, but engine and electrical issues can mimic those symptoms. We run the actual diagnosis on your car before saying which it is, rather than guessing from the description alone.
Will you tell me if something else needs fixing once it's opened up?
Yes. Once a transmission or engine is pulled apart, worn parts around the original problem often surface. We stop and tell you what we found before doing any additional work, so you decide what gets fixed.
How does scheduling work?
Call and describe what the car is doing, and we'll talk through how soon it needs to come in versus what can wait. Bigger jobs like a transmission rebuild get scheduled around parts and shop time, so we'll walk you through that when you call.
