A full look at what's struggling, what's worth keeping, and a plan to convert the rest to drought-tolerant beds and drip line.
This is where most jobs start: a walk of the property to flag thirsty turf, dead corners, and irrigation that's soaking the wrong spots. We map what stays, what goes, and lay out a phased plan for planting and drip conversion so the yard changes without the whole budget going at once.
02
02Drought-tolerant planting
California natives and Mediterranean plants chosen for this coastal climate, grouped by water need instead of scattered by looks.
We group plants by how much water they actually want, not just how they look together, so a bed doesn't end up with a cactus next to something that needs weekly soaking. Expect natives and Mediterranean species that hold color through the dry months and settle in without constant babysitting.
03
03Irrigation & drip conversion
Swapping spray heads for drip line so water goes to roots instead of the sidewalk, with zones set to what's actually planted.
Spray irrigation loses water to wind, runoff, and overspray on pavement before it ever reaches a root. We convert beds to drip line, set zones by plant type instead of one blanket schedule, and cap or adjust heads that were watering turf that no longer exists after a planting change.
04
04Hardscape & pathways
Pavers, decomposed granite, and stone paths that hold up to foot traffic and frame the planting beds around them.
A path or patio gets graded and based properly before anything goes down on top, which is the difference between a surface that stays flat and one that heaves in a season. We work in pavers, decomposed granite, and stone, sized and set to fit the beds and slope of the yard around them.
05
05Tree & shrub care
Pruning and shaping that works with how a plant actually grows, not a hedge trimmer pass on a schedule.
Trees and shrubs get pruned for structure and health, cutting back to a bud or branch collar instead of shearing a flat face across everything. It keeps a plant's natural shape, opens it up for air and light, and avoids the stress cuts that leave a shrub looking chewed.
06
06Clean-ups & hauling
Overgrowth, dead plants, and yard debris cleared out and hauled off so a property is ready for the next phase of work.
Before a redesign or a season change, a yard often needs the old stuff out first — dead shrubs, overgrown beds, piles of trimmings. We clear it and haul it off the property, leaving a clean site whether that's the end of the job or just the starting point for planting.
Landscaping

Carlsbad's
climate
We plant for the water bill you actually have
United Gli works yards from Carlsbad out to Oceanside, Vista, Encinitas, and San Marcos, and most of them start the same way: a lawn that costs more than it gives back and an irrigation system built for a wetter place than this one. We walk the property first, look at sun, slope, and soil, and put in plants and drip lines that fit the coastal climate instead of working against it. The goal is a yard that still looks good in August without a hose running every night to keep it that way.

How a job runs, start to finish
01
Walk the yard together
Point at what you want changed. Ten minutes outside beats an hour of description.
02
Agree the scope and the price
What's included, what gets hauled away, what it costs — settled before tools come off the truck.
03
The work gets done
On the day you set, the way you agreed. Weather can move a date; it shouldn't move the price.
04
Walk it again before they leave
The cleanup is part of the job. Say so while the crew is still there.
Before you hire anyone
Four flags worth knowing — whoever you call
Ask these of anyone bidding your job — us included. A good answer costs nothing; a bad one saves you the whole mistake.
01
A price before anyone's seen the job
Real quotes come after eyes on the work. A number over the phone is a number that changes.
02
Nothing in writing
Scope, price, and who buys materials — settled before work starts, on paper or in a text thread.
03
Pressure to start today
Good operators are booked. Same-hour availability with a discount attached is its own answer.
04
No paper trail on payment
However you pay, there should be a record of what was agreed and what was done.
01
Site walk first
We walk the property and note sun, slope, and existing plants before any design or quote is put together.
02
Water grouped by need
Plants are grouped by how much water they actually require, so no bed waters a cactus and a thirsty shrub the same way.
03
Zones set to the planting
Irrigation zones are adjusted to match what's actually growing, not left running on a layout from before the work.
01Will you work with the plants and beds already there?
We walk the yard first and note what's healthy and worth keeping, then build the plan around it. Nothing gets pulled out just to start fresh if it's already doing its job.
02Can you fix an irrigation system that's watering unevenly?
Uneven watering is usually a zoning problem or old spray heads working against a changed layout. We check the system against what's actually planted and adjust or convert zones to drip where it makes sense.
03How do you handle scheduling a quote or a job?
Call and we'll talk through what the yard needs and set up a time to walk the property. From there we scope the work and figure out timing together before anything starts.

Before you decide
Do I actually own the site?+
Yes. You own your site and your domain. Cancel anytime, keep everything. If you ever leave, we hand it all over, free. That's the deal in one sentence, and it's printed at checkout too.
Can I get my money back?+
On the $0-today plan there's nothing to get back at first: nothing is charged for 30 days, so cancel before then and you pay nothing. After that you can cancel anytime; a month already billed isn't refunded. If you paid $299 to launch instead, that $299 is refundable for 30 days, no questions asked.
What's the monthly fee for?+
It's $59 a month (or $49 if you paid $299 to launch), and it covers hosting, security, and unlimited edits to the pages you have: a new phone number, new prices, new photos, new wording. Email us and we make the change, with no hourly billing. New pages, like a page for another town you serve, are optional add-ons, and you see the price before you buy.
How did you get my information?+
From public records and your public Google listing. The records are your state contractor license (the CSLB publishes it), your city or county business registry, and Overture Maps, an openly licensed map dataset. Your Google listing gives us things like your hours, photos, rating and reviews; ratings and reviews appear as they do on Google, with attribution, never edited or invented. The words on the site are ours, written from those facts, so tell us anything we got wrong and we fix it. Your email came from a business-data company we pay; we don't run software that scrapes websites for addresses. We've never sold or shared the list, and we're not going to.
