Everything under our care

Tree health assessments

A hands-on look at your trees and shrubs — pruning, structure, pest signs, and what's stressing them before it becomes a hazard.

We start at the trunk and work outward: checking branch structure, deadwood, pest damage, and how the canopy is shaping up against the house and power lines. Pruning is done to open the tree to light and air, not just to make it smaller. You get a clear read on what needs attention now and what can wait.

Drought-tolerant planting

California natives and Mediterranean plants that bloom through a San Diego summer without daily watering.

We swap thirsty lawn and struggling exotics for plants suited to this climate — manzanita, sages, ceanothus, agave, and other natives and near-natives that hold color through the dry months. Placement matters as much as the plant list, so we group by water need and let the soil and sun exposure decide the layout.

Irrigation & drip conversion

Converting spray heads to drip lines so water goes to the roots instead of the driveway.

Old spray systems waste water on hardscape and shallow-rooted lawn. We convert lines to drip emitters placed at the root zone, set on a schedule that matches what's actually planted, and cap off heads that are watering nothing but pavement. Less runoff, less waste, plants that actually get what they need.

Garden design & build

Laying out beds, paths, and planting zones so the yard works with San Diego's sun and slope instead of against it.

We design around what the site gives us — slope, sun exposure, existing trees — and build out planting beds, borders, and transitions that hold up. The goal is a yard that still makes sense in three years, not just on install day, with plant choices that mature into the space instead of outgrowing it.

Hardscape & pathways

Pavers, decomposed granite, and stone paths that hold their line through San Diego's dry-wet cycle.

We grade and set pathways and patio areas so they drain properly and don't heave or shift with the seasons. Materials are chosen to fit the yard's use — decomposed granite for informal paths, pavers for high-traffic areas — and set on a proper base, not just laid on dirt.

Clean-ups & hauling

Clearing overgrowth, dead plants, and yard debris, and hauling it out so the space is ready to work with again.

Before any new planting or redesign, the yard often needs clearing first — dead shrubs, overgrown hedges, storm debris, or years of accumulated green waste. We cut it back, dig out what's dead, and haul everything off site so you're looking at bare ground and a fresh start, not a pile.

We walk the yard before we touch a single branch

Urban Tree Service San Diego works on the plants and soil already in front of us — the struggling lawn, the tree nobody's pruned in years, the sprinkler heads spraying the sidewalk instead of the roots. A San Diego yard has its own logic: what needs shade, what needs to come out, what will actually take root in this soil and this sun. We walk it first, point at what's working and what isn't, and build the plan from there instead of a template. One reviewer summed up a job simply: city trees well cared for, excellent team.

  • Plant choices matched to San Diego's climate
  • Drip irrigation set at the root zone
  • Pruning done for tree structure, not just size
  • Yards cleared and hauled the same visit

How a job works, start to finish

  • Walk the trees together

Point at the trees and say what worries you — branches over the roof, a lean, dead wood. Photos help.

  • Agree the scope and the price

What gets cut, what gets hauled away, whether the stump stays — settled before any saw starts.

  • The work gets done

On the day you set, the way you agreed. Weather can move a date; it shouldn't move the price.

  • Walk it again before they leave

The cleanup is part of the job. Say so while the crew is still there.

Before anyone climbs your trees

Four flags worth knowing — whoever you call

Ask these of anyone bidding your trees — us included. A good answer costs nothing.

  • Beware of topping

Cutting a tree's top off to shrink it weakens the tree and invites decay. Good tree work thins and shapes instead.

  • Ask about insurance

Tree work is dangerous work. Ask for proof of insurance before anyone climbs.

  • Ask who makes the calls

Arborists can be certified by the International Society of Arboriculture. It's a fair question to ask who's deciding what gets cut.

  • Get the cleanup in writing

Hauling, chipping and stump grinding are often priced separately. Settle what's included before work starts.

  • Walk it first

We assess the yard on site before recommending any plant, cut, or irrigation change.

  • Water where it's needed

Irrigation work is designed around the root zone of what's actually planted, not the old layout.

  • Plants suited to the site

We match species to the sun, slope, and soil already on the property instead of a fixed plant list.

  • Do you work with existing landscaping or just start over?

Both, depending on what's there. We look at what's healthy and worth keeping first, then plan additions or replacements around it rather than clearing a yard that doesn't need it.

  • How do I know if my yard needs a drip conversion?

Spray heads watering the sidewalk, patchy dead spots, or a lawn that struggles no matter how often it's watered are the usual signs. We check pressure and coverage on site and tell you honestly whether conversion will help.

  • How does scheduling work for a quote?

Call and describe the yard — size, main concern, whether it's a one-time clean-up or an ongoing plan. We walk the property, talk through options in person, and schedule the work from there.

Before you decide

Do I actually own the site?

Yes. You own your site and your domain. Cancel anytime, keep everything. If you ever leave, we hand it all over, free. That's the deal in one sentence, and it's printed at checkout too.

Can I get my money back?

On the $0-today plan there's nothing to get back at first: nothing is charged for 30 days, so cancel before then and you pay nothing. After that you can cancel anytime; a month already billed isn't refunded. If you paid $299 to launch instead, that $299 is refundable for 30 days, no questions asked.

What's the monthly fee for?

It's $59 a month (or $49 if you paid $299 to launch), and it covers hosting, security, and unlimited edits to the pages you have: a new phone number, new prices, new photos, new wording. Email us and we make the change, with no hourly billing. New pages, like a page for another town you serve, are optional add-ons, and you see the price before you buy.

How did you get my information?

From public records and your public Google listing. The records are your state contractor license (the CSLB publishes it), your city or county business registry, and Overture Maps, an openly licensed map dataset. Your Google listing gives us things like your hours, photos, rating and reviews; ratings and reviews appear as they do on Google, with attribution, never edited or invented. The words on the site are ours, written from those facts, so tell us anything we got wrong and we fix it. Your email came from a business-data company we pay; we don't run software that scrapes websites for addresses. We've never sold or shared the list, and we're not going to.
