Privacy, in plain English

We build website previews for local businesses from public business records and the business's public Google listing, write the words ourselves, and email the owner to show them. Previews are listed in our public directory so an owner can find theirs. We don't sell or share our list with anyone, ever. If you want your preview taken down, it happens the same day; if you want your information deleted, it happens the same week. One email to hello@readystorefront.com does either.

Business information, from sources that are already public or that we license:

• State license records. The California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) publishes contractor names, license numbers, classifications, and issue dates.
• City and county registries. Business license and business tax certificate records.
• Overture Maps. An openly licensed map dataset with business names, addresses, and categories.
• The business's public Google listing. Name, address, phone, hours, category, photos, rating and reviews, through Google's Places service.
• Business contact information from licensed data vendors. The business email addresses we write to come from commercial data providers we pay, under their terms. We do not run our own email-harvesting software against anyone's website.

That's business data: company names, addresses, license numbers, business phone numbers and emails. We are not in the consumer-data business.

Two reasons, and only these two:

• To build a website preview for a business. The facts on a preview (trade, service area, license number, hours) come from the sources above; the wording is ours, written from those facts. If something is wrong, tell us and we fix it.
• To contact the owner about it. One short email introduction about that one preview. A few emails at most, and the sequence stops permanently the moment you reply “stop,” unsubscribe, or ask us to.

• We never sell, rent, trade, or share our list: not with advertisers, not with “partners,” not with anyone.
• We never send cold text messages or robocalls.
• When a preview shows your Google rating, reviews, hours, or photos, they are your own, pulled from your public Google Business Profile, always attributed, refreshed within 30 days, and never edited. We never invent a review, a rating, or an opening hour, and we never mix one business's reviews into another's page.

• Previews are not private. Every preview we build is listed in our public directory at readystorefront.com/find. The page shows a few per industry, and a search by business name or city finds any of them.
• Each preview is marked noindex, which tells search engines to keep it out of their results, and says at the top that we are not affiliated with the business.
• Each preview also has a short public page about it on readystorefront.com, which search engines can show when someone searches the business's name. It says the same thing: we built the preview, we are not affiliated with the business, and how to remove it. It shows the business's name, kind of work and city, and a picture of the preview.
• Any owner can take their preview down at any time, and it comes down the same day, with the page about it (see below).
• Invented example sites are labeled as such on the image. A real business appears as a pilot only with that owner's permission.

• Your account. Your name, email, business details, domain, the content and photos you give us, and the changes you ask for. You sign in with an email link, a passkey, or Sign in with Google (Google then shares your name and email address with us).
• Payments. Stripe processes every payment and holds your card details; your card number never touches our servers. Checkout states the exact charge, the renewal date, and the statement descriptor (READYSTOREFRONT.COM) before you pay.
• How long we keep it. For as long as you are a customer, then only what tax and accounting law requires. You can download your site at any time from your account page, and ask us to delete the rest.

A customer can turn on text alerts from their account page. If you do, we store your mobile number and the sentence you agreed to, with the date and time. We text you only about your own website: a call-back request or a device order that came in through it. We never use your number for marketing. We never share, rent or sell your mobile number, or your text-message opt-in data and consent, with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes; Twilio receives the number only to deliver the texts. Reply STOP to end the texts at any time, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. The full program terms are in our terms of service.

• If you apply to be a partner, we keep what you send us (name, email, the kind of work you do, how you want to be paid) and, once you are paid, the PayPal or Venmo handle or mailing address you give us, and a W-9 when the tax rules call for one. We use it only to run the program and pay you; PayPal or Venmo receives the handle only to send the payment. We never ask for bank account numbers.
• If a partner sent you to us, their link sets a cookie for 30 days so we can credit them, and we note which partner it was on your preview. If you launch, we tell that partner your business name and whether the payout is owed. Nothing else about your account, and never your payment details. If you launch from a different phone or computer than the one you opened their link on, we may email you to ask who sent you, and your answer only decides which partner, if any, we pay.

• Call-back and quote requests. When you fill in a form on a site we host, what you type goes to that business so they can answer you. We store it for them and do not use it for anything else.
• Selling a device. If you sell a phone or other device through a business's site we host, the order holds your name, email, phone, the address you ship from, and how you want to be paid (a PayPal or Venmo handle, a Zelle email or phone, or the name for a check; we never ask for bank account numbers). It goes to that business so they can send a label, inspect the device and pay you. The business decides the offer and pays you; we host the order for them and never use your details for anything else.

When you call +1 (888) 336-2053 and leave a message, the greeting tells you the call may be recorded. Twilio records and transcribes the message so a person can call you back. We keep the transcript and the link to the recording, and recordings are deleted after 30 days.

We use these companies to run the service. Each gets only what it needs for its job, under its own privacy terms, and none of them may use our data to market to you.

Preview takedown, same day. Use Remove a preview, reply “stop” to any email from us, or write to hello@readystorefront.com. The preview comes down the same day, automatically; it doesn't wait for a human to get around to it.

Deletion, same week. Ask and we delete your information from our records. Deleted also means suppressed: we keep the minimum needed to make sure we never build a preview for you or contact you again. Deletion doesn't quietly expire.

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we have about you and where it came from.
• Delete it (see above; we do this in days, not the 45 the law allows).
• Correct anything we have wrong.
• Opt out of sale or sharing, though there is nothing to opt out of, because we don't sell or share personal information and never have.
• Equal treatment: exercising any of these rights never costs you anything or changes how we treat you.

To use any of them, email hello@readystorefront.com. No account, no form, no notary; an authorized agent can write on your behalf. We'll confirm what we did.

• Our servers keep standard logs (IP address, pages requested, timestamps) for security and operations.
• We count page views with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not follow you to other sites. We don't run advertising trackers on this site.
• When a page errors, Sentry receives a technical report so we can fix it.
• If you submit a form here (requesting or removing a preview, or asking a question), we use what you typed for exactly that purpose.
